T13.Eliza Bennett has a Change of Heart - aka BR-2, Leigh's Woods

I love both of these fabrics so much. I decided to keep most of the color
out of the background and try to respect the directionality of the gold as much as I could
without going crazy doing it. I almost made it...

Thrift store find this week... just forced myself to watch Mr. Darcy again...
Good old Eliza had a change of heart, thank goodness. Sensible girl.

The gold bodice that matches my block. : )
OK, how one would stand there facing a freshly bathed
darcy without one's knees buckling is beyond me.

T12.Heidi's Half Done - aka RS-5, Geisha Girl

One of the other women in my Dear Jane Bee, Heidi, is making her quilt in pinks and browns with a great tan background fabric. It is not only beautifully made, but the overall effect of it is stunning. I just love it. Anyway, Heidi hosted the bee the week I was making this one and at this point, she had achieved the "halfway" mark. So exciting to see it all coming together. This one looked like it could belong to her quilt so I thought I'd name it for Heidi.

Hey look at that ! I remembered to leave extra fabric on the edge!

Realized I still need to applique the melon on this! oops.

T11.BR4, Candy Dish

Candy Dish - this is one I set aside after bumping against a crazy paper piecing layout up top. Val helped me figure out a solution. It ain't pretty but hopefully it'll all get lost in the seam allowance. "glitsa!"

T10.RS4, Dutch Apron

Oooh, loved making this so much. Something about the fabrics and the design.
Still need to trim it with the triangle ruler.

T09.The Women of Qumar - aka BR5, Gay's Glory

Finished block

The "little bit more than halfway "mark. Loved this background fabric! Not sure what it is though. Wish I had bought more to use as a backing for something.

I swear at this point it was trying to turn itself into a 3-D triangle. I had to beat it down. It's never pretty seeing the sausage getting made...

Done sewing all the rows together but - Ack! Can't.... Find.... The Dear Jane rulers!!! don't panic... don't panic...

I panicked.

I ended up disemboweling the crap room searching for the needle in the haystack...

A completion! And with appliqué no less. Yay for me. Love this Merrimack line from Judie Rothermel.

T01.Australian Pines

10/28/11... Hmmm just noticed something about this block. Am I the last? Haha... Well, I will defn. Have to redo as I am all about pine trees and this for some reason seems to be violating a fundamental truth of tree hood. That of having a central trunk vs. um, negative space??

Block name: Australian Pines
Original position: TR-2
Jane's Addiction position: tbd
Fabric/foreground: Jo Morton (green holly with rust berries)
Fabric/background: yellower stained
Color Group: Green
Wave: tris - top row
Date started: 9/22/11
Date finished: 9/23/11 wee hours
Time: 3-4 meandering hours
Pieces: 20
Method: paper-pieced from dj software
Notes: ended up short in height

4.5" blocks: 2
Triangles: 1
Kites:
Total blocks: 3
Total number of pieces: 66

Oy, this took some doing. Now it's done and looks great but even with all the extra I left on it it's 1/8" too short. Hmmm. Not sure what happened there. But anyhoo, now I have one under my belt. I had to undo about 4-5 seams. Still struggling a bit with the paper piecing technique. Cutting scraps a little small maybe. I'm using a narrow glue stick to help stabilize things instead of pins/tape but need to see how other people are doing it.

Random: sex & the city. season 1, eps 1-8ish... I like that Carrie Bradshaw. Does she remain likable? and omg mr. big. *sigh* #betterlatetothepartythannever?
